Description

La Maison Jansen/House of Jansen is a Parisian interior design firm founded in 1880 by Dutchman Jean-Henri Jansen. Jansen is considered the first truly global design firm. From the very beginning, Maison Jansen combined traditional furniture with influences from new trends. The firm paid great attention to historical research, through which it tried to balance clients' desires for living, useful and often impressive spaces. Within ten years the firm had become a major buyer of European antiques, and in 1890 it founded the Antiques Gallery as a separate enterprise that bought and sold antiques also to Jansen's clients and competitors.
